Now that I have finished the book Out of my Mind one important theme that I have noticed throughout the book is "always keep trying and never give up." I think that this is thwe theme of the book because Melody a girl in our book who has a dissability where she can not walk or talk or even feed her self is still determined to do the things that a normal person does. One example of this determination is when Melody finds out that there is a machine that can help her talk, she researches on the computer and convinces her parents to get it for her. Another example of determination is when Melody finds out that she can try out for a quiz team in school. When she finds this out Melody studies non-stop until the day of the try outs where she ends up getting a perfect score beating everyone else that tried out. So as you can see "always keep trying and never give up" is a great theme for the book Out of my Mind.

The charecter in my book (Out of my Mind) that i would like to know personally is Melody. I would like to know Melody because she is so determined. I would like to know her since she is determined because, I find it interesting that someone who can not speak or walk is able to be so inspired by other peoples actions. I know that Melody is determined because, in a certain part of the book Melody has joined a quiz team and there whole team has made it to nationals which is hosted in Washington D.C. But when the day to leave comes Melody's teammates ditch her because they do not like her disabilities and Melody gets left at home while the rest of her team goes to the finals without her. But even though tthis happened Melody still wants to go to school the next day. Another reason that i would like to know Melody is because, i know people with the same disease that she has so I would be able to kind of relate to her.

My favorite charecter in the book Alabama Moon was Moon. Moon was my favorite charecter because, he liked the outdoors. One way that Moon and I are alike, is that we both do not like being told what to do. I know that Moon does not like being told what to do because, when a cop tried to tell him to get into the back of the squad car after Moon's father had died Moon had punched the cop in the stomach and ran. This also, reacured several times in the book when Moon was told what to do. Another thing that me and Moon have in comin is that we both love the outdoors. I know that Moon loves the outdoors because instead of living inside a house he decided to live in a forest and make shelters out there where he could live.

My favorite book is Alabama Moon by: Watt Key. I liked this book because it took place in the wild; it was also a very suspenseful book so it kept me intrigued while I was reading it. The genre of books that I like to read is realistic fiction. The book that I am reading right now is Alabama Moon. This book is about a boy named Alabama Moon who lives in the forest with his father. During this book Moon’s father dies which provokes Moon to go see the shop keeper who is the only other person he has ever conversed with besides his father. Once visiting the shop keeper Moon gets turned into the cops who put Moon into a boy’s home. This is where moon escapes and releases every other kid in the boy’s home free. Once Moon accomplishes this he sets off to live in the forest with two other kids from the boy’s home. This is where one of the kids he is living with runs away and goes to live with his father, also when this happens Kit the kid who is still living with Moon ends up getting really sick because he has not been able to take his daily medicine.  Moon eventually brings Kit to the hospital where he must leave him until he gets better. Then Moon tracks down the other kid who was living with them Hal. Once Moon tracks down Hal he heads to Hal’s house where he gets welcomed with open arms.
